Remote Learning
It is hoped that school closures are a thing of the past but, if they do occur, then we are well prepared to be able to move to online learning.
At St Benedict’s, we understand the need to continually deliver high quality education, including during periods of remote working – whether for an individual child or many. We recognise the importance of maintaining high expectations in all areas of school life and ensuring that all children have access to the learning resources and support they need to succeed. Our main resource to support the delivery of the curriculum is DB Primary.

Our aim during any lockdown is to deliver as much of the whole school curriculum as possible but, at times, alterations and adapatations to the content and delivery will be made due to the restrictions. However, the overall aim, for each subject in terms of what the children will learn, will remain the same.
Our curriculum offer during the previous periods of crisis was to provide all children (whether at home or in school) the same offer - this would still be our intent. The use of DB Primary as our platform makes this possible. Teachers set work, publish recorded lessons and so on. The children could upload their work and contact their teachers at any point during the day and the teachers were able to mark and provide feedback on the children's work making suggestions for next steps and improvement.
Through the implementation of this policy, we aim to address the key concerns associated with remote working, such as online safety, access to educational resources, data protection, and safeguarding.
This policy aims to:
- Minimise the disruption to children’s education and the delivery of the curriculum.
- Ensure provision is in place so that all children have access to high quality learning resources.
- Protect children from the risks associated with using devices connected to the internet.
- Ensure staff, parent, and child data remains secure and is not lost or misused.
- Ensure robust safeguarding measures continue to be in effect during the period of remote learning.
- Ensure all children have the provision they need to complete their work to the best of their ability, and to remain happy, healthy, and supported during periods of remote learning.
At St Benedict's we use DB Primary as our main remote learning resource.

We always welcome feedback at St Benedict's whether it is from our children, parents, staff or community because we are always striving to do our best and improve where improvement is required. During the Spring 2021 lockdown we surveyed parents twice in the first 4 - 5 weeks to seek their opinion and make changes or improvements if needed.
